The statement further explained that conduct in the premortal existence caused some children of God to be "cursed with a skin of blackness" as the "seed of Cain" and to be denied the priesthood.
Though the church had an open membership policy for all races, they avoided opening missions in areas with large black populations and discouraged people with black ancestry from investigating the church.
